Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour

The historic Gold Rush era town of Downieville on Highway 49 offers a perfect opportunity for a weekend get-away with the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour at the Yuba Theatre April 4 through 6, 2008. This charming mountain village situated in a rugged canyon at the confluence of the Downie and North Yuba Rivers, and the comfortable Yuba Theatre itself, provide a memorable setting to see the highest quality films from the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival held each fall in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
National Geographic and New Balance are presenting the tour - now celebrating its 32nd year - that is an exciting opportunity to experience world travel and thrilling mountain adventure in the comfortable environment of the 189-seat Yuba Theatre. Transformed into a performing arts venue by the Sierra County Arts Council in 1996, the 1940 era Yuba Theatre has been a favorite venue (as well as its smallest) on the World Tour for 12 consecutive years. In 2002, the Banff Centre featured the Yuba Theatre in its Banff Mountain Festivals Magazine.
The Yuba Theatre, Downieville
The Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 shows begin at 7 p.m. and the Sunday, April 6 show begins at 2 p.m. Each screening will feature different programs of the best independent and documentary films available. Expect 2 1/2 hours of films at each screening, as well as an intermission with refreshments. The traditional door prize drawings for an array of items add to the festivities.
Tickets
Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 at the door, if available. Children 12 and under pay half price. Tickets can be purchased on line at Brown Paper Tickets and in Downieville at the Downieville Grocery (530-289-3596).
