Mission of the
Arts Council
The Sierra County Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public benefit corporation incorporate in 1981 to promote, support, and advocate the arts and culture through out Sierra County. It consists of a Board of Directors (including a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) responsible for voting on policies and business; an advisory board; and supporting membership. When available funding permits, the Arts Council employs a part-time Executive Director.

The mission of the Sierra County Arts Council is to enrich lives and provide artistic opportunities by inviting all people to share in artistic creation, expression, and education.
The natural beauty of Sierra County tends to inspire unique and diverse artistic work. There are over 100 individuals in the County who engage in a variety of artistic persuits: writing; painting, drawing and photography; trowing, glazing and firing ceramics; carving wood and stone; quilting, weaving and other textile work; and computer art.
With its breathtaking landscapes, remarkable sports and recreational opportunities, and prominent role in the history of California, Sierra County attracts visitors from around the world who return year after year. The Arts Council welcomes participation from all interested members of the Sierra County community, including those who live here part-time.
